Lansweeper is a cyber asset intelligence platform designed to provide comprehensive visibility into technology estates across IT, operational technology (OT), and cloud environments. The platform automatically discovers and catalogs every connected asset—managed, unmanaged, and shadow—without requiring manual effort or agents in most cases.

The discovery engine leverages multiple protocols and methods including SNMP, WMI, SSH, and agent-based scanning to identify servers, workstations, network devices, PLCs, cloud resources, and IoT devices. Once discovered, assets are normalized into a unified inventory with detailed profiles covering hardware specifications, installed software, user associations, and configuration data.

Lansweeper enriches asset data with vulnerability and lifecycle insights, helping organizations identify end-of-life software, unpatched systems, and security exposures. The platform includes built-in dashboards, report builder capabilities, and dynamically generated network diagrams to visualize asset relationships and dependencies.

Integration capabilities extend Lansweeper's value through a GraphQL API, webhooks, and pre-built connectors for popular ITSM platforms including Jira Service Management, ServiceNow, Freshservice, and HaloITSM. Security tool integrations with Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, and Datadog enable correlation of asset context with threat detection workflows.

Limitations

  • Agentless discovery requires network access and appropriate credentials (SNMP community strings, WMI/SSH authentication) which can be challenging in segmented OT environments
  • Free tier limited to 100 assets; paid plans start at 2,000 assets with pricing scaling that may be prohibitive for very large enterprises
  • Full GraphQL API access restricted to Enterprise tier; Starter and Pro plans have limited API capabilities
  • OT discovery capabilities, while present, may not match the depth of specialized industrial asset discovery tools for proprietary protocols
  • Cloud discovery requires API credentials for each provider and may not capture all resource types across multi-cloud environments
  • Warranty collection feature depends on vendor APIs and may not cover all hardware manufacturers equally
