Eclipse Kapua integrates with Eclipse Kura

Overview

Eclipse Kapua and Eclipse Kura are designed to work together as a complete edge-to-cloud IoT stack. Kura provides the edge gateway runtime, while Kapua manages devices from the cloud.

Integration Architecture

Sensors/PLCs → Kura (Edge Gateway) → MQTT → Kapua (Cloud) → Applications

• Kura: Edge computing, protocol translation, local processing
• Kapua: Cloud-based device management, data ingestion, user management

Use Cases

• Industrial Gateways: Deploy Kura on industrial PCs to collect Modbus/OPC-UA data and forward to Kapua
• Smart Buildings: Kura manages BACnet devices; Kapua provides centralized monitoring
• Fleet Management: Standardize edge deployments with Kura, manage centrally with Kapua

Getting Started

1. Install Kura on edge gateway hardware
2. Configure Kura to connect to your Kapua instance
3. Register the gateway in Kapua
4. Start collecting data from edge devices
