JobBOSS²

JobBOSS² is a shop management ERP built specifically for custom and make-to-order manufacturers — machine shops, fabrication shops, tool-and-die shops, stamping shops, and screw shops. It covers the full quote-to-cash workflow: estimating and quoting, work order generation, production scheduling, inventory and purchasing, shop floor time tracking, shipping, and financial reporting. The platform originated as two separate products (JobBOSS and E2 Shop System by Shoptech) that ECi Software Solutions merged after acquiring Shoptech in 2020.

Integrations

JobBOSS² integrates natively with QuickBooks Desktop and Online for accounting sync. The ECI MES add-on connects shop floor machine data to the ERP for OEE and OLE metrics. CADLink bridges CAD systems (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CREO, Altium, CATIA) to the item master and BOM. KnowledgeSync provides business activity monitoring with configurable alerts on jobs, POs, quality events, and shipments. Paperless Parts connects for automated quoting import/export. uniPoint delivers ISO and AS9100 quality management with 22 modules. NET1 and Commerce Suite handle payment processing and AR/AP automation.

Deployment and compliance

JobBOSS² is delivered as cloud SaaS across three tiers (Silver, Gold, Platinum). There is no on-premise option in the current product line. Implementation typically takes 3–6 months with ECi's professional services team. The platform is ITAR compliant, making it suitable for defense supply chain manufacturers.

Limitations

• No public pricing — all tiers require a quote from ECi sales, with no self-serve trial or free tier available
• On-premise deployment is not supported; the legacy E2 Shop desktop product was the on-premise option and is being phased out in favor of the cloud platform
• Scheduling module is only included from the Gold tier upward; Silver tier users must upgrade or pay separately for production scheduling
• Not designed for process manufacturing, repetitive/high-volume production, or engineer-to-order with deep product configurators — purpose-built for high-mix, low-volume job shops
• Limited native OT/IIoT connectivity; machine data integration requires the separate ECI MES add-on rather than direct protocol support (OPC-UA, MQTT, MTConnect)
• Implementation takes 3–6 months, longer than newer cloud-native competitors targeting sub-30-day deployment
